Super Predicament!

Just in case a there were some people out there living under a freaking rock on Mars. The amazing game called the "SUPER BOWL" is on Sunday. This game is going to be awesome. And what makes it that much better is that my favorite team the New York football GIANTS are playing. So in order for me to watch this game that starts at 7:30am on Monday morning in Japan. I had to make a "super" decision! So I asked for the day off! haha So I will be watching the game live along with you in my apartment! So do me a favor and root for those underdogs the NY Giants! Just to pump you up a bit, here are a few videos about the Giants this season. Enjoy and comment por favor. Actually if you are a Patriots fan don't comment because I don't care haha. J/k See ya :)

Hello everybody! So it has just come to my attention that I have not been spreading the "love" on my blog to many faithful readers. I have to use this really old school response "my bad". I didn't realize that I had not been busting shout outs to my peeps. So I'm sorry about that y'all. I will try to give "shout outs" more often. In the mean time keep on reading my amateur blog and comment! :P

Cooking Papa

Have you ever played the Nintendo DS game called cooking mama? Well I think that you could make a new game called "cooking papa" with me in it. The only problem is that the will probably suck... Today I made my first real attempt to make some "japanese" food. I attempt to make...Curry Rice! It didn't come out so well, so I think I will give up on making anything except spaghetti! haha

Anyway, I had a pretty good weekend. There were some interesting moments and some pretty dull ones. But hey that's just the way things go sometimes. I had a lesson this morning with a teacher that I will just name "jackie". Well Jackie never talks to me or asks me what is going on in the class. Last week Jackie was absent twice and she didn't even ask me what I did for the class those two days. So lately I have just been going into the class and doing whatever I want. Now, I'm having my students create a dialogue. It is really fun and they are enjoying it. It's so hard to understand how mediocrity is excepted so much in Japan. Ok check this out. Do you know what the minimum passing grade at my school is? A 40! Yes that's right 40! In the USA, a passing score is 70. So basically a student can pretty much fail everything except 1 test and they can pass. Unbelievable... anyway enough of my bitching... I hope you are having a great week. Take care

Computer Love

This week my buddy Tom and I went to the oh so famous DenDen town in Namba. If I translated this to Japanese, it basically means Electric Town. Unlike the monstrosity that is Akihabara in Tokyo, DenDen town is like a poor mans Akihabara. But I digress, the whole point of the trip was to find a new hard drive for my notebook. After strolling through a few "geek filled" shops. We landed on this beauty of a shop called Takumoto (or something like that). I found myself a nice 160 gb hard drive for my notebook. I was set back a bit of cash but I was able to fix my computer. Well obviously since I am writing in my blog right now. Afterwards, we went walking around Namba in search of something very delicious to eat. In Osaka, there are so many restaurants that it becomes difficult to find somewhere to eat. Simply because there are too many choices. We made a random swift turn onto a street and looked up and saw a restaurant called "HUB". This discovery made us slightly sad. You see, when we went to Tokyo we went to this really cool English Style pub. We thought it was really cool that we found a cool original place in Tokyo by ourselves. This "pub" was called "HUB". So basically we found out that it is like a Applebee's back in the states...sad times...

Anyway, this week has been quite rainy and cold. I've been hard at work downloading all sorts of music to build up my library again. Losing 6,000 songs really sucks by the way.

I have a holiday from March 15 to April 7. It looks like I will be heading back to El Paso if I can afford the ticket. So I'll let you all know whats going on in a few weeks. Well I will be back soon with some new pics hopefully and more stories.

p.s. Nobody is giving the Giants a chance, but that is good. They will surprise everybody.

Happy and Sad

Ok everybody, I have a bunch of news! First off I'm really really happy that my favorite team the New York Football Giants made it to the SUPER BOWL!!! Finally going to take down those damn Patriots!! GO GMEN!!!

Anyway, I had a good weekend until Saturday night. I went out with this really sweet and nice girl. We had a great time, but when I got home from the day I turned on my computer and it didn't work. My freaking Hard Drive is shot! I have no idea how that happened but all my information is gone! All my pics of japan, all my music 6000songs, all my lesson plans EVERYTHING!!! My friend Tom and I are going to try and recover the information. I have to send my computer back to HP in the USA. This really sucks, but they will fix it for free! I will be without a computer and skype for a while guys!

OK thats not the end, last night I decided I wanted to play some Call of Duty 4 on my xbox 360. I started to play and about 5 mins in, my xbox just gave out. Then when I turned it back on, I got what all xbox owners fear... Three flashing red lights!! The red ring of DEATH!!!! My fucking XBOX died too!!!!!!! So basically in a period of less than 24 hours almost 3000 dollars worth of equipment were rendered useless. Damn I just couldnt believe it! Insane.... well anyway I will have to send my xbox back to the usa, and they will also fix that for free! I hope that it will be done very fast. Well I hope you are all doing fine, and if you want talk or email just send it to my phone. vnovoa@softbank.ne.jp because I dont have anything... well talk to you soon I hope you are doing good. see you later

weekend!

Hello! Well it's Friday night here in Osaka. I had a pretty good week. There was some unfortunate news but everything is going to be ok.

Today was nice because the senior students at MHS had their final presentations. I went to all of my students presentations. I was running around the whole school to see them! :) They were so happy to see that I took the time to see them. I was noticing while listening to their speeches, I know a lot of Japanese. Well my listening ability is quite high. When I try to speak I forget it all, but with a few more months of practice I will be good I hope. I even answered a few questions that they were asking to me in Japanese. One of my students presentations was on the different type of bicycles. I was so suprised how great it was. He did an awesome job. Another student talked about Jazz music and played a song with his guitar after. I was very impressed today. The only thing that sucked was right when I was about to go home it started to pour rain! :) haha of course I had no umbrellas but I did have my trusty LL Bean jacket.

This weekend will be pretty quiet. I don't have anything to do. I will probably head to my friend Tom's place to play some Rock Band on 360. Next week is the return of Happy Time party. I am excited about it. Me and Tom have a plan to start going out more and meeting new people. We are going to start going into random places that are out of our comfort zone! Kinda like what we did in Tokyo! :) We'll see how that goes. Anyway that is it for now. I don't have much to talk about. Glad you continue to stop by and read the blog, I appreciate it you know. Well talk to you soon

Questions

Hello everybody! How are you all doing on this fine week?

I am trying to adjust to being back at work after what felt like an eternal vacation or holiday. I'm sure many of you are getting back to work as well. I guess it takes a few days to readjust. I hope you all do great!

Well lately I have been thinking about my life in Japan. I really like it here, but after my trip to Tokyo I have a few questions. I feel like after my contract is up in July, I want to move to the Tokyo area. If I can find a good job of course, but if not I will most likely stay in Osaka. Yes, I know some of you will probably think I'm crazy. Of course this is all up in the air. I'm just giving some thought into it. If I don't end up moving to Tokyo, then I want to move into Osaka city.

Anyway, I've been trying to study Japanese lately. Probably because I have nothing better to do with my time than sit around at my desk. Sometimes it makes my head start to hurt! (~-~) Well I hope all is well with you all. I don't really have much to say today. Thanks for all the comment lately. It is nice to see! Oh and Val, yes I'll meet you in Japan. It's messed up you picked your friend over me though!! j/k hahah Hey maybe I can check out Taiwan!! Let me know your plans k. Goodbye everybody and I will talk to you soon. FTW!!! Oh yeah and Dad good luck with the paint job! Your el camino is going to look so awesome! FINALLY! :)

Back from Tokyo

Hey everybody! So I just got back from my little trip with tom and jackie that was unfortunately too short to Tokyo. I didn't want to leave for various reasons, but there was a one big reason.(^_^) Anyway, I had a wonderful time. I saw Mai and we did a lot of fun things. We even went to a "maid cafe" it was very bizarre, but it was an experience. I think I was able to appreciate Tokyo more because I can actually read the signs. If you don't know I went to Tokyo about 3.5 years ago. It was my first time back since that time. It only took about 2.5 hours to get there from Osaka, on the famous Shinkansen bullet train. There are so many pics here. Please enjoy, I will call some of you soon. I miss you!

Off to Tokyo

I hope you all are having a great week. My week has been pretty good. I watched the Sugar Bowl yesterday. I was rooting for Hawaii but damn they got destroyed, oh well they still had a good season.

I just wanted to let you know that I am going to Tokyo this morning. I will go to visit my friend Mai. I am so excited! I'm not taking my computer so I will not be able to post or call until I get back on Sunday night. I might send a post through my cell phone so perhaps look for that. Have a great week and I will talk to you soon. Pics will be up soon ok! :)

Happy New Year Everybody!

Hey everybody! I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. I guess you could call me a slacker. Anyway, I wanted to wish everybody a Happy New Year. Japan is one of the first places in the world to celebrate the new year. I hope that 2008 brings you health, happiness, and prosperity. I still can't believe that it's already 2008. I remember I used to talk with my little brother back in the day about how I would buy a "hover-board" in 2008. Haha Time goes by really fast.

Last night was really great. I went with a few of my friends to a bar called tin's hall. There was a countdown party with music and just good times. If someone had told me that for the new years eve 2008 I would be hanging out in Japan with 2 South Africans and a Japanese girl in Osaka, I would have laughed. That's exactly what happened! The really awesome thing was that the trains ran all night. Normally they stop around 12am, but last night they ran 24hrs. I came home about 2:30am, and it was so freezing. Anyway, we drank a lot and listened to good music.

Well, this is the first of hopefully many posts in 2008. I hope to see you all coming back to the blog. This should be a good year, I sure hope so. Take care tonight with whatever you are doing. Remember, take a taxi! BYE!!!!
